Augmented Reality Interactive history

Presented at the ARS Electronica, in 2019

Boundaries are constantly being changed, and those we find today may have already changed tomorrow. In a protected area of the Greater Lisbon area, aerial images are collected to build a map with open source software. These are shared through a website that is, itself, also a map, allowing for the visualization of economic, ecological and social while trying to see how well a territory / protected area is respected – “para mais tarde recordar” (for later recall).

GPS

Installation Audio

Where do we go when there's nowhere else to go?

A voice that guides us, gives us coordinates, but we never reach our destination. An installation in which we listen to a voice like a GPS, which creates a different mental image for all listeners.

GOOGLand

Image capture

A mutation of two fantasy worlds, this project is the result of extensive research into ‘Error Images’ found when visiting Web Mapping sites such as Google Maps. The aim is to question what lies behind these platforms that we use with an attractive template, issues such as video surveillance and suggested reality on the internet.
Google Maps is a web mapping tool that seems to show the world as it is.

YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE

Interactive history

This is one user's story... The aim is to explore the use of the web mapping applications we use in our daily lives on mobile devices with internet. Where does our data go, who has access?
The aim is to question the use of the internet and its applications, which are linked to data capture and storage systems. In this case, an application with a map feature, which is so commonly used in our day-to-day lives, to see where this information goes.
Another aspect is to demystify the Internet as something divine because it is omnipresent, but in reality everything is in the hands of human beings like us who are receiving and storing information from us.
This is the story of most of us.

VISUAL DESIGN

BREAKING THE NEWS

The Journey of News – Visualizing the Spread of Information

This project explores the trajectory of news in the digital landscape, focusing on how it spreads through social media. From the moment a news organization publishes a story online, we analyze how the audience drives its circulation through shares, reactions, comments, and views.

The goal is to develop an interactive visualization generator (software or application) that maps and graphically represents the network of connections formed from the initial publication to its reach across different audiences. This project not only examines the dissemination of information over time and space but also translates this journey into an immersive and artistic visual experience.

Target Audience

All social media users interested in the dynamics of digital information and the way news spreads online.
